The company Gerald Bartke GmbH from Rohe (Bavaria) is recalling the organic cheese "Cheddar Medium" from the manufacturer Belton Farm UK. As the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety reports on its portal "lebensmittelwarnung.de", there is a possible danger from broken glass.
Two pieces of glass found in the packaging
According to Gerald Bartke GmbH, two pieces of glass were found in the packaging of a cheese. According to the wholesaler for international specialties from certified organic cultivation, the cheese was sold via a service counter or a convertible counter (SB). "If you purchased this cheese in the period from September 20, 2019 and there are still goods available, please bring them back to the point of sale," the company wrote in a notice published on "lebensmittelwarnung.de". The purchase price will be refunded.
Splinters of glass can cause serious injury
Food that could contain broken glass should in principle no longer be consumed. Because the consumption can lead to serious injuries in the mouth and throat or to internal injuries. In food production, foreign bodies such as glass, aluminum or plastic residues can repeatedly occur due to defects in the manufacturing processes. Another reason for frequent food recalls is contamination with bacteria such as salmonella or listeria. (ad)
