The term Candida is usually meant to be Candida albicans. This is a yeast that is found mainly on mucous membranes, such as in the mouth and throat area, in the genital area, and preferably in the intestine. As a rule, the fungus is not a health problem as long as it does not take over. However, if the body is in an imbalance, the fungus can spread massively and cause a variety of problems.

Such Candida colonization usually requires treatment. There are various conventional medicinal drugs on the market for this. But naturopathic practice also has a portfolio of effective therapies to combat yeast. Home remedies for candida can be used for mild forms and as additional support for conventional medical treatment for more severe fungal infections.

Home remedies from the kitchen

Various home remedies that can help with a Candida disease are available in almost every kitchen and are easy to use.

Garlic

Garlic enriches many meals, has a positive effect on blood pressure and blood flow, contributes to healthy cholesterol levels and also has an antifungal effect. The raw shape of the tuber helps best. However, anyone taking blood-thinning medication or suffering from hypotension (low blood pressure) should stay away from garlic.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a well-known home remedy. It boosts the metabolism and protects against acidification. At the same time, it positively supports the balance of the intestinal flora, so that the yeast cannot settle and multiply so easily.

Pomegranate

The pomegranate is known to help menopausal women and to have a beneficial effect on the vessels. But he also has a reason to exist in connection with Candida. This particular apple contains punicalagin. This is a tanning agent that can have a positive effect on the removal of the yeast.

Coconut oil

Everyone is talking about coconut oil. So this is a suitable means with which the "oil pulling" can be carried out. For a few minutes, a teaspoon or tablespoonful of oil is pressed through your teeth in your mouth, rinsed back and forth, possibly gargled with it and then spit out the whole thing. The resulting light yellow mass contains many germs that have no place in the mouth.

This procedure protects against infections of the oral mucosa, against colds, caries, but also against candida. The effect can be supported by adding a tiny drop of pure, high-quality cinnamon oil. The coconut oil is also suitable for internal use. Two to three teaspoons or tablespoons of it a day are germicidal and therefore antifungal.

Soda - be careful

Soda is always recommended as a home remedy for Candida. Nevertheless, the right intake should be discussed with a therapist beforehand, as baking soda can also cause unpleasant side effects, such as diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is often used in the kitchen, especially at Christmas. Cinnamon helps with gastrointestinal complaints, has an antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal effect. This spice is used in high capsule form to normalize sugar metabolism, but is also helpful for candida. Cinnamon bark is added to meals. Capsules should be discussed with a therapist.

Lactic acid bacteria

Lactic acid bacteria have a positive effect on the intestinal flora. If enough of these bacteria exist in the gut, this can keep intruders like the Candida fungus at bay. Lactic acid bacteria are present in yogurt, thick milk, buttermilk and curd cheese. When buying, make sure that the products are "natural" and contain right-handed (L +) lactic acid. This form also occurs in the human body and is therefore easier to digest.

Lactic acid bacteria are also found in fresh raw sauerkraut, which is best available in health food stores. But you can also make fermented vegetables at home, for example from carrots or cabbage.

Kefir is not recommended because it contains yeast that is contraindicated in Candida.

Lactic acid bacteria, in concentrated form, are available in the pharmacy. These are important for an intestinal rehabilitation, but this must be carried out under the guidance of a doctor or alternative practitioner.

Tea blends against Candida

A very simple home remedy for candida is a tea mixture consisting of anise, fennel, caraway and coriander. The seeds are very lightly toasted (in the pharmacy or in the mortar at home) and mixed in equal parts. A teaspoon of the mixture is poured with a quarter liter of boiling water and then has to brew for about seven to ten minutes. This is a tasty tea that smells of fresh bread, has a very relaxing effect on the intestine and also has a positive effect on the intestinal flora.

Nettle and horsetail, mixed in equal proportions, make a base tea, which is also recommended. Here, too, a teaspoon is required for 250 milliliters of boiling water. The brewing time is five to seven minutes.

In the case of Candida infestation in the mouth, rinsing with a sage tea helps several times a day.

Aloe vera and colostrum

The aloe vera plant is said to have a wide range of uses. It can also be used for Candida infestation. It is important to pay attention to the quality and purity of the aloe vera juice.

A recommended remedy is also (cow) colostrum. This is the cow's first milk after the birth of a calf. It contains vitamins, minerals, amino acids and many immune factors. All in all a small immune system. Excess colostrum, which the calf does not need, is processed for humans. In capsule or liquid form, this can be taken daily. Its main place of activity is the intestine. Colostrum provides a healthy environment here. With Candida, this is a great way to stop this intruder.

Naturopathic practice for fungal infections

Colloidal silver, neem tree oil, oregano oil, olive leaf extract and nasturtium are not home remedies, but they are often used in naturopathy to treat candida. The remedies are not suitable for unauthorized use, but should be prescribed by a naturopath as part of a therapy. In addition, an intestinal remediation is carried out in a naturopathic treatment of Candia. The intestine is "cleaned" with suitable agents and then the intestinal flora is built up step by step. This is often done with pro (living microorganisms for the intestine) and prebiotics (food for the "good" intestinal bacteria).

Anti-fungal diet

The anti-fungal diet is the basis to fight the candida. Every conventional medical or naturopathic treatment also contains behavioral rules regarding nutrition. However, these are quite different. New knowledge and new opinions change the requirements regarding the required diet. Some people strictly reject fruit, others see it less strictly. The extent of the Candida infestation is also decisive for how the diet should turn out. This is followed by a diet suggestion that may well differ from others.

Sugar is absolutely to be avoided. This includes sweets, spreads, sweetened drinks, cakes, and other sweetened foods. Alcohol is also not allowed. A base-rich diet is absolutely in the foreground: lots of vegetables - little animal. Dairy products, with the exception of kefir, are recommended. In addition to pork, sausage and meat are allowed, but preferably in small quantities. Vegetables should not be eaten raw, but blanched. Salad is suitable, but only one piece of fruit a day in the first week of diet. Then there is an increase, week after week.

A wide variety of opinions collide on carbohydrates. Often the white flour is completely banned from the menu. However, if you have only eaten white flour so far and are then suddenly supposed to eat whole grains, this will not do you any good. An alternative is bread made from finely ground spelled flour, often mixed with rye. However, all carbohydrates, including rice, potatoes, pasta and bread, should only be eaten in small quantities. Avoid gas and especially anything that contains yeast.

Adequate hydration in the form of still water is important. Tea and coffee without sugar is allowed.

Candida - the way to the doctor

In the case of massive Candida infections, especially if the mouth or genital area is affected, the doctor must be consulted. As far as the vaginal mushroom is concerned, unauthorized applications, such as a tampon with tea tree oil, must be avoided.

Causes of Candida

Improper diets rich in sugar and carbohydrates, antibiotics, cortisone, as well as immunosuppressants and chronic diseases such as diabetes, kidney failure and cancer are predisposed. Too much alcohol and nicotine, massive stress and pollution can also cause candida to develop.

Symptoms

The symptoms of Candida infestation depend heavily on its location. A corresponding infection in the mouth is called thrush and manifests itself with a furry feeling, a burning mouth and reddened oral mucosa, on which there are small white specks. With a vaginal fungus, those affected suffer from burning, vaginal itching, swelling and vaginal discharge.

If the intestine is affected by the Candida infestation, which is most common, there are no typical symptoms. Diarrhea, flatulence, constipation, feeling of fullness, tiredness, headache, food intolerance, frequent infections and much more are possible. (sw, nr)
